Even the sweetest, most even tempered Chihuahua is still an animal. A Couple of years back, my
father in law was holding Max (our first) and just loving on him. Everything
seemed fine, but I guess after an hour or so, Max grew tired of the
attention and nipped my father in law on the nose!! Since, then he’s been
very cautious not to OVER love on the dogs. They need a break from us
sometimes, too =) This is very important, especially when it comes to
younger children! (Max has NEVER nipped ANYONE since then, just for the
record)

1-18-10
Happy New year everyone! Its been a rough one for me. Almost lost a puppy, almost lost Max and almost lost a new born pup! When you read these words, please excuse the frustration! People, please, please, please don’t feed your puppy or dog anything other than dog/puppy food. It makes baby sitting a living hell! We almost lost a pup, because she was addicted to chicken!! She refused to eat regular dog food and nearly starved herself to death!!!!! This was a very frightening time. I have never had a pup simply refuse to eat, even when starving. Long story short, I had to boil chicken and feed the pup chicken for weeks, then I eventually/slowly mixed dry puppy food (iams puppy). After a while she became accustom to the smell (I guess) and began to eat some dry food. A few weeks later she was completely transitioned over to just dry food. I know what some of you are thinking, well did you try science diet, royal canine, ad, kd, id, you name it, Yes, yes, YES! I tried them all. I can only hope that none of you ever have to go through this, but if you do. I hope this helps! Happy new year!

Well the strangest thing occured this summer and I definitely need to share it. We had a record 100+ number of days here. I don’t remember the final number, but I know it was around 50 days of ridiculous heat! I’m sure it’s a nature thing that God has put into Dogs or something but, here’s what happened! We had 4 females either skip a heat or their heat came months late. Then of the females that were bred, the litters were 1 and 2 pups. Only Lita had 4 and that’s cause Thunder is a Super stud! Ok, enough joking, the point of this story is, as a breeder give your Dam’s a chance. Don’t assume a female is never going to have a large litter and place her. Analize the situation, look into her surroundings, influences, stresses, weather, etc.... We’ve had litters of 1 pup from a Dam one heat and then 5 another! So, you just never know!?!

sorry for the delay, but it was a rough summer! Something, I’d like to share along the lines of breeding females. I realize the general rule of thumb is if the females pelvis is wide enough and she’s at least 4 1/2 lbs. It’s ok to breed. My opinion is its totally incorrect! My experience has show me that even 6 lb females with nice size hips can have problems. So what do we do? A few things: First, make sure your female comes from a free whelping line, that’s always helpful. Second if she’s 4 1/2 or 6 lbs make sure she has wide hips! Third, Monitor her closely the last 2 weeks before birth, watch for discolored dark or green discharge. Get x-rays 5-7 days before day 63. If there’s even one big pup in there and this is her first litter, DO NOT HESITATE TO GET THE C-SECTION!!! no matter the cost!! It could be the difference between saving the pups or losing the pups and possibly your dam!
3-7-09
A common belief that many people share is that the smaller the stud, the smaller the puppies. Totally untrue!! Two very important things : First, the more pups in the litter, the smaller they’ll be usually and second genetics plays a big part! How a sire and dam’s genetic sequences combine determines alot! I’ve had a large male sire two litters from two different females. Both females were the same size, however one litter was below 4 lbs full grown all of them! And the other litter finished up over 5lbs each!! So, remember this when searching for a male/stud choose quality over size!!
1-15-09
Here’s another oldie but goodie, a close friend said she didn’t want to get a chihuahua because they only bond to one person, then they become snappy or even violent to the rest of the world! This totally UNtrue! A chihuahua or any dog will adapt to his/her environment and how they are raised. If you spoil a dog and treat them better than people, they’re going to reflect that. Dogs need boundaries and rules just like we do. The absolute best thing for any dog is socialization from the time their pups until they’re adults! Have friends pet/play with them, kids, strangers, etc…
I will be updating the Gallery before years end. I made some minor changes to the front page, hope everyone likes!
Update : I’m going to start off slow by updating the gallery 1st, then we’ll add a past pups and their owners section. 1-18-10, Thanks!
Still working and organizing this 03-07-09.
We we’ll be adding a new section: Past Pups and their Owners. I’ve been wanting to do this forever now. So, if you have purchased a pup from us, pleaseeeeeeee, send updated pictures of you/your family and your new family all together. Thank You!

Sorry, This is coming out soooo Late. Due to circumstances outside my control, I’m calling this update. Our November/December issue!
Puppies:
One boy is still available, updated pics here. We have a new girl in town, Her name is Lita! Once we’ve made a reasonable determination of color, head and body. We will decide whether we are keeping her or not. We are considering her for obvious reasons, as we already have fawn, red and chocolate, cream and white will expand our colors. She is simply gorgeous. She is out of Bolder, however, she’s kind of small. I don’t believe she will break 4 1/2 lbs. So, she will be a perfect breeder weight and possible show candidate! Just look at her gorgeous markings, short snout and round head!
Nursery:
Carmie is pregnant! we are taking deposits immediately! please contact me for details. I just can’t wait until they’re here!!!!
Females :
Ruby is still growing and filling out, she has totally transformed since the last pictures we took of her. She has Changed Colors 4 times, possibly a 5th (still to be determined). Her head is finally filling in and balancing out the rest of her body! She is very square for a dame and doesn’t have that normal longness about her. Her eyes are still hazel and nose/pads are still chocolate! Her coat is just now starting to come in a little.

Here’s a new segment I want to call “About a Chihuahua”
I get several questions about my Chi’s some beginner some advanced. But one of the most common is “Why don’t your Chihuahuas look like the taco bell dog?” The first and formost thing I want to bring out is my pups are not in the same line at the “Taco Bell Dog” =) Honestly, I think for breeders like myself others who have show quality Chi’s. There should be a seperate classification. For example, the taco bell dog, is a Mexican Chihuahua. Where as, I would consider my Chihuahua’s to be a North American Chihuahua, or American Chihuahua, or LongCoat American or, you get the picture. I try to breed to the standard, so my chi’s usually have nice apple dome heads, straight lines, short muzzles, square bodies, balanced eyes and ears, straight/even bites but most important wonderful temperments!!! I don’t breed to have bulgy eyes, over extended foreheads, or deerheads for that matter. I try to avoid the curly tails, the long muzzles, and of course all the recessive genes that are out there. If anything is discovered that could hurt my line, that female/male is immediately spayed/neutered without question!
The Chihuahuas I raise and have grown to love 3rd in my life, behind God and my family, give unconditional love! These Chi’s would die for their owner. All of my Chi’s run freely in our fenced in acre, males and females together. You would think the males would have killed each other by now, but no they all get along perfectly! In good harmony with no fighting. There are so many things I do to raise my Chi’s this way and starting in January, I will giving my personal tips. I’m not saying my methods are perfect, but they have worked for me.
The next time I post any new info, there will hopefully be plenty of new puppies to show off! Take Care!
